Can international students work while studying in Russia?

On the 5th of August of 2020, 

International students following full-time degree programmes in an organisation of higher education thats is state-accredited universities are now allowed to work in their free time without obtaining a work permit.

The employment procedure for foreign citizens studying in Russia has been significantly modified by the Federal Law No 16-FZ of 6 February 2020 that introduced amendments to Federal Law No 115-FZ of 25 July 2002 ‘On the legal status of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation’.

To conclude an employment or civil law contract for the performance of work (provision of services) with an employer, a foreign citizen studying in the Russian Federation must submit a confirmation of their status as a student from a higher education organisation. In order to obtain such confirmation, the student should contact the Academic Department of their institution. Should a foreign citizen have completed or stopped studying, the employment or civil law contract concluded with them is subject to termination

What are the jobs that foreign students in Russia usually choose?

They work as sellers, administrators, waiters, couriers, some become teachers, translators, barmen, hairdressers, entertainers – there are plenty of possibilities to realize yourself, especially in the entertainment business, so if you want, you’ll find a student job! Moreover, after graduation you’ll have a possibility to obtain Russian citizenship and to stay in Russia for work.
